Reasons Why CBD May Not Work For Your Pet

Happy Dog With CBD Quality

Choosing Quality CBD

Have you tried CBD but didn’t get good results? Explore why and how you can get a better CBD.

Hemp and CBD are Not the Same

Hemp and CBD are both derived from the hemp plant, but they are not the same thing. Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant butdoes not achieve the same level of benefit as CBD.

When you're looking for a CBD product, it's important to make sure that you're getting actual CBD and not just hemp. While hemp contains some CBD, it also contains many other compounds that may not provide the specific health benefits you're looking for. In addition, products that are made from hemp but not labeled as containing CBD may contain only trace amounts of CBD and not provide the desired effects.

If you received Hemp and not CBD, your results may have fallen short.

Quality of CBD: What to Look for When Buying CBD Products

Cannabidiol, or CBD, has become one of the most popular natural remedies for a variety of health issues, from anxiety and stress to chronic pain and inflammation. As the demand for CBD products continues to grow, so does the number of companies selling them. However, not all CBD products are created equal. To cash in on the market, many companies use low-quality, inauthentic CBD in their products, which can be harmful to your health and not provide the results you're looking for. As we have told you with essential oils — quality matters.

Check the quality of your brand & try a better brand before you give up! The benefits of CBD are worth it!

Why Some Brands Use Inferior CBD

The CBD industry is largely unregulated, which means that companies can get away with using low-quality, inauthentic CBD in their products. In some cases, they might use synthetic CBD, which is made in a laboratory rather than extracted from the Cannibis plant. In other cases, they might use hemp oil instead of actual CBD, which contains little to no CBD and is not effective for supporting health issues. To avoid these inferior products, it's important to buy from reputable companies that use high-quality, authentic CBD in their products.

What Makes a CBD Product Inferior

There are several factors that can make a CBD product inferior, including:

  1. Low-quality, inauthentic CBD: As mentioned above, some companies use low-quality, inauthentic CBD in their products, which is not effective for treating health issues and can be harmful to your health.

  2. Poor extraction methods: The way that CBD is extracted from the hemp plant can greatly impact its quality. Poor extraction methods, such as using harsh chemicals or heat, can damage the CBD and make it less effective.

  3. Lack of third-party testing: Many companies do not have their products tested by third-party testers, which makes it difficult to know if their products actually contain the amount of CBD they claim.

What Third-Party Testers Look for When Testing CBD

When testing CBD, third-party testers look for several key factors, including:

  1. CBD content: The testers will check to make sure that the product contains the amount of CBD that the company claims.

  2. Contaminants: The testers will look for contaminants, such as heavy metals and pesticides, that can be harmful to your health.

  3. THC content: The testers will check to make sure that the product contains less than 0.3% THC, which is the legal limit in the United States for CBD.

  4. Low CBD content: products with lower than advertised CBD levels may not provide the intended effects. It’s common to find low quality CBD with no CBD in it at all.

  5. Synthetic cannabinoids: Some CBD products may contain synthetic cannabinoids, which can be harmful and produce unpredictable results.

Other Reasons Your CBD May Not Work Effectively

  1. Dosage: Incorrect dosage or using an inadequate amount can result in ineffective use of CBD.

  2. Method of consumption: The method of taking CBD, such as orally or topically, can impact its effectiveness.

  3. Interactions with other drugs: CBD may interact with other medications, which can lead to reduced effectiveness or additional side effects.

  4. Variations in body chemistry: CBD can produce different effects for different people.

Dosing CBD for Dogs:

The appropriate dose of CBD for dogs can vary depending on factors such as the size of the dog, the severity of the condition being treated, and the potency of the CBD product. However, as a general guideline, a low dose of CBD for dogs is considered to be between 2-5 mg per 10 pounds of body weight. Incrementally increase in dosage over time to find the most effective dose for your pet.

If your pet is becoming too sleepy your dose may be too high.

Before You Buy CBD for Your Dog

Before spending money on another product, ask yourself:

  • What am I hoping CBD will help with? Are there other options or other things to do first.

  • Is this a short-term stress issue or a chronic health pattern?

  • Is my dog on medication that needs extra consideration?

  • Is my dog sensitive to supplements or new products?

  • Am I addressing food, inflammation, gut health, and stress too?

  • Do I know how to evaluate product quality?

  • Am I choosing CBD because it fits the plan, or because I am out of ideas?

That last one matters. A lot.

Pet parents are often handed very few options. They are told to medicate, wait, monitor, or “that’s just aging.” Meanwhile, they can see their dog is uncomfortable, anxious, inflamed, restless, itchy, stiff, or struggling.

CBD may be part of the conversation, but it should be a smart conversation.

Let’s Talk Through Whether CBD Makes Sense for Your Dog

If you are considering CBD for your dog and you are not sure where to start, I can help you sort through the options.

We can talk about your dog’s current health, medications, nutrition, symptoms, product concerns, and whether CBD fits into a bigger natural wellness plan. Sometimes CBD is a good fit. Sometimes another support strategy makes more sense first. Either way, you deserve more than a random product recommendation and a crossed-fingers approach.

Before you buy the bottle, let’s talk through the dog in front of you.
