Benefits of Ginger in Your Dog's Food

Freshly Grated Ginger offers a number of key benefits for your dog’s health

  • Anti-inflammatory — helps old bones and joints feel better, useful for dogs with arthritis

  • Cancer-fighting

  • Anti-nausea — use it for upset stomachs, car rides and food transitions, nausea associated with cancer treatment.

  • antioxidant — proactive use for cellular health, may also be used for cancer protocols

  • warms the energetics of the body

  • support the circulatory system

  • may also contribute to brain health

This makes it very beneficial for our senior dogs especially. Who may need a bit of warm energy in the colder temperatures or even at times when you need the AC blasting and they are feeling chilled. Many dogs will fal into the category of Season of Metal — not just our seniors. So consider it for them as well

Most dogs will tolerate freshly ground ginger in their fresh food bowl, but you can also make ginger tea and add to their water, or add it to a good bone broth recipe.

Ginger has also been shown to target parasites in dogs, including heartworms when used as part of a healthy protocol and maintenance plan.

Ask me about my natural wellness protocol for parasites. You can find it on my online courseware site.

You can also look to use a high quality, non-synthetic, non adulterated Ginger Essential oils as a topical application or added to their food. You will not receive same level of benefit from ginger flavoring, dried spices, etc.

When offering freshly grated ginger to your dog — think smidgens! Up to 1 tsp per day total for an adult 50+ dog. Smaller dogs should be adjusted between 1/8 tsp and 1 tsp.
(Remember you can muscle test to determine your dog’s need and amount)
