10 Super Foods For Your Dog

Looking to add a little extra “wow” to your dog’s bowl?

Let’s talk superfoods.

Not the trendy kind you’ll find plastered all over human food labels — I’m talking about real, whole foods that actually help dogs feel better, heal better, and age better.

You’ve probably heard me say this before: food is the foundation of wellness. But some foods go beyond just “not being kibble.” These are the ones that deliver powerful benefits in small, simple servings — and yes, you probably have a few in your fridge right now.

Let’s dive into a few of my favorites…

🐟 Salmon

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon helps reduce inflammation, protect the heart, and keep the skin and coat looking vibrant. It's especially helpful for dogs with allergies or arthritis — or just those needing an immune system boost.

🫐 Blueberries

Tiny but mighty! Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants that help protect cells from damage, support brain health, and even benefit the urinary tract. A few frozen ones on top of dinner? Chef’s kiss.

🎃 Pumpkin

This one’s a digestive hero. Pumpkin is high in fiber and beta-carotene, which means smoother poops, better gut health, and even support for maintaining a healthy weight.

🥦 Broccoli & Broccoli Sprouts

Broccoli is full of vitamins like C and K — great for bones, immunity, and detoxification. And those little broccoli sprouts? They’re rich in sulforaphane, a powerful compound that supports detox and reduces inflammation.

Just serve these steamed or chopped raw in tiny portions.

✨ Turmeric

The golden healer. Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory that can help with joint pain, liver function, and overall immune strength. A small sprinkle (with a healthy fat source) can go a long way.

🥚 Eggs

One of the most complete proteins out there. Eggs deliver amino acids, brain-supportive choline, and plenty of B vitamins. Great for growing pups, seniors, and everyone in between.

🍠 Sweet Potatoes

Naturally sweet and full of fiber, antioxidants, and slow-burning energy. They help stabilize blood sugar and support a healthy gut — all while being super tasty.

🥛 Kefir

Think of kefir as a dog-friendly probiotic smoothie. It’s loaded with good bacteria that help digestion, immune health, and even mood. Start small and make sure it’s plain and unsweetened.

🐟 Sardines

These little fish pack a punch — full of omega-3s, protein, and calcium (if you use whole ones). They’re excellent for joint health, skin, and brain support. And yes, most dogs go nuts for them.

🌿 Spinach

Loaded with vitamins A, B, C, K, plus iron and antioxidants, spinach is a solid green to mix into meals. Just a small amount cooked or finely chopped raw is plenty.

So... do you need all these in every bowl?

Nope. But rotating a few into your dog’s meals each week can do wonders for vitality, energy, and long-term wellness.

And if you’re thinking:
“This sounds great, but I don’t even know where to start…”

I’ve got you.
