🐶 Sample Recipe: One Week of Food for a 50-Pound Dog
Designed for healthy adult dogs – no grains, no beans, low-carb, organ-included
✅ Feeding Guidelines
Average Adult Dog: 2% of body weight = 16 oz/day → 112 oz/week
Active Adult Dog: 3% of body weight = 24 oz/day → 168 oz/week
Puppy Estimate: 2.5–3% of body weight split into 3 meals/day; increase Omega-3
For this 50-pound dog at 2%, your weekly food total should be ~112 oz, or approximately 7 lbs.
🍽️ Ingredients (Cooked Meal, No Grains or Legumes)
Proteins & Organs – ~4 lbs total
3.5 lbs ground turkey (lean)
0.25 lb liver (meets ~5% organ target)
0.25 lb “other” secreting organs (heart, kidney, tripe, etc.)
Vegetables – ~6 cups total (can adjust based on tolerance)
3 cups cruciferous/brassica: bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.
2–2.5 cups other veg: zucchini, kale, spinach, seasonal
1 cup carrots or orange veggies: pumpkin, sweet potato, red pepper
❗Note: About 25–30% of the total volume here is vegetables, which is appropriate for dogs who tolerate moderate veg content. If your dog is carb-sensitive or you’re targeting lower oxalates, modify veg choices accordingly.
Liquid
2–3 cups water (for moisture if not raw-feeding or to help cook any starches—not used here, so optional)
🍳 Cooking Instructions
Combine meat and chopped vegetables in crockpot or on stovetop.
Cook on low for 8–10 hours until fully cooked and softened.
Do not roast meats over 275°F to avoid protein damage.
🧂 Post-Cooking Additions (After Cooling)
Fats (Critical if using lean meats like turkey)
9.3 Tbsp of healthy fat (e.g., avocado oil, ghee, or tallow)
Supplements
3 scoops kelp (Now brand = ~1350 mcg iodine total)
5000 mg Calcium Citrate (~4 Tbsp + 1 tsp) – meets adult calcium need for 50# dog
1 tsp dried mustard (detoxifier, flavor enhancer)
1 tsp dried turmeric (anti-inflammatory)
1 clove raw garlic (immune support)
1 tsp sea salt (Redmond or Himalayan – for trace minerals)
Prep Tip: Use a food processor or potato masher for consistency.
🥚 Optional Weekly Add-Ins
1 can of sardines (topper, 1x/week)
1–2 eggs (raw or lightly cooked)
Add raw meaty bones 2x/week for dental & calcium support
Rotate proteins and vegetables each batch for variety and balanced exposure
🧊 Storage Instructions
Store 3–4 days in the fridge
Freeze the rest in daily portions
Thaw fully and warm slightly before feeding (add hot water for moisture)
✅ You may choose to store meat and veggie portions separately if feeding raw meat or rotating in fish or dairy (which may require different fat handling)
