How To Give Homeopathic Remedies To Dogs
HOW TO ADMINISTER HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES TO DOGS
Homeopathic remedies are completely different from traditional medicines; dosages are not based on body weight or species. We all get the same dose. Therefore the dose you are giving your dog is basically 1 pellet regardless of the age, gender, weight or type of dog.
You can add the pellet directly to the gum line of your dog at let it dissolve, or you can make a tincture and dose that way. This is called dry dosing.
If your dog is uneasy about forcing items into their mouths, simply dissolve a couple of pellets in a small amount of water and use a dropper to administer. This is called wet dosing.
If even that is problematic — put it in their food. Yes, it’s ideal to administer 15-30 minutes on either side of food and water — but get the remedy in the dog any way you can!
When administering the pellets, the remedy is on the surface of the pellet. It is not the pellet itself. It is often said that when administering a homeopathic remedy we should not touch the pellet. Some believe that touching the pellet not only transfers some of the remedies to you, but that it may negate the energy of the remedy. Many homeopaths and dogs mamas will argue that is simply not true.
When working with an acute situation, you can dose the remedy every 15 minutes until symptom relief is observed, up to 4 hours.
Dosing for chronic conditions will be suggested by your homeopathic practitioner.
When dosing a dog with homeopathic remedies, it is important to choose the correct remedy and potency.
