Potency

Homeopathic remedies aren’t made like herbs or supplements. They’re created through a special process that dilutes and energizes natural substances—like plants, minerals, or even bee venom—so they become safe, gentle, and powerful for supporting the body.

Here’s How It Works (In Plain English)

  • Start with a natural substance (like a flower, mineral, tissue, or disease source)
  • Mix a tiny bit of it with water and alcohol
  • Shake it really hard (this is called succussion)
  • Take one drop of that mixture and add it to more water or alcohol
  • Succuss again
  • Repeat over and over to create different potencies

Each time it’s diluted and shaken, it becomes more of an energetic signal—meaning it gently nudges your dog’s body to respond differently, without adding more “stuff” for the liver or kidneys to process.

The higher the number, the greater the potency—but that does NOT mean stronger like a drug.

Think of higher potencies as having a deeper energetic reach into the body or mind.

Understanding Homeopathic Potencies (X, C, and M Scales)

X Potency (Decimal Scale)

  • “X” = diluted in a 1:10 ratio (1 part substance to 9 parts diluent)
  • 6X = this process repeated 6 times

C Potency (Centesimal Scale)

  • “C” = diluted in a 1:100 ratio (1 part substance to 99 parts diluent)
  • 6C = repeated 6 times
  • 200C = repeated 200 times (much more diluted than 6C)

M Potency (Millessimal Scale)

  • “M” = repeated 1,000 times
  • Potency increases rapidly at this level

All potencies involve succussion (vigorous shaking) between each step, which is believed to imprint the energetic pattern of the substance into the liquid.

The higher the number, the more diluted—and the deeper the energetic effect.

Which Potency Should You Use for Dogs?

For First Aid or Acute Situations

(bee stings, cuts, diarrhea, fear, motion sickness)

  • 6C or 30C is usually ideal
  • Easy to find in stores or first-aid kits
  • 30C tends to act faster and reach slightly deeper than 6C
  • Can be repeated based on symptom intensity

Example: Arnica 30C for bruising after a fall or injury

For Emotional Trauma or Shock

  • 200C may be used when symptoms are intense or overwhelming
  • Not repeated frequently—typically one dose, then observe

Example: A dog who panics during fireworks may receive Aconite 200C once, followed by 30C later if needed

For Chronic or Deep Patterns

  • 1M, 10M, or higher potencies
  • Used infrequently (weeks to months apart)
  • Requires accurate remedy selection

Not beginner-friendly without guidance.

Quick Reference for Remedy Potencies

Potency Dilution When to Use Best For
6X / 6C Mild Teething, minor injuries, sensitive dogs Beginners
30C Moderate Common first aid, faster response Beginners
200C Deeper Emotional trauma, acute shock Intermediate
1M+ Deepest Chronic patterns, behavioral layers Guided use

Pro Tips for Pet Parents

  • You don’t dose by weight—a Great Dane and a Yorkie get the same amount
  • Homeopathy works energetically, not chemically
  • You can dissolve pellets in water and succuss (shake) between doses if your dog resists pellets
  • More is not better—watch the response before repeating
