Using Essential Oils for Senior Dogs
My dogs have their own collection of essential oils. Each day we use a variety of essential oils. I use some essential oils as needed, like Copaiba, and Digize. Frankincense several times a week. I rotate Orange, Grapefruit, Lime and a few others throughout the week. Thse oils are considered safe to ingest in proper amounts and dilutions for your dog’s size. We have a reasonable level of fat content in their raw food so I don’t worry too much about a carrier, but I can always add a little coconut oil or grass fed butter when I add oils to the food bowl.
But of course, I also use topically and with diffusion.
My dogs are extremely oily. Even my small senior, mini-dachshunds. So I seldom do much dilution. But as always — you should start low and slow and adjust accordingly. Muscle Testing will help you make the right choices about oils, frequency and amount.
