Why I Use More Than Essential Oils from Young Living
Ok, I admit it. I went all in and use so many product from YL.
When most people hear “Young Living,” they immediately think essential oils. But that’s not where I started my wellness journey. It was with cleaning products.
For me, Young Living is not just about having a bottle of lavender on the shelf. Truth be told, I have them on the wall, by the bedside, in the kitchen, the car….
It is about creating a healthier home, reducing unnecessary chemical exposure, supporting my own wellness, and choosing products I feel good about using around my dogs.
Because I know our dogs do not live in a chemical-free bubble. They live on our floors. They sleep on our blankets. They breathe our air. They lick their paws after walking across surfaces we clean. They curl up next to us after we apply lotions, perfumes, hair products, and body care. They are exposed to what we bring into the home whether we think about it or not. Barefoot and naked. I don’t remember who said that first, but it stuck with me.
That is why I care about more than just what goes in the diffuser.
I care about the cleaners, supplements, personal care products, beauty products, dental products, laundry products, and everyday household items too.
Young Living Is Part of My Low-Tox Home
I am not interested in fear-based living. I do not believe pet parents need to panic over every single product in their house, toss everything in a trash bag, and live like a woodland creature making soap out of bark.
I do believe small changes can be effective. Even if it’s one product replacement at a time.
When we start replacing heavily fragranced, harsh, or questionable products with cleaner options, we reduce the overall burden on the body. That matters for us, and it matters for our animals.
Dogs are closer to the floor, closer to the laundry, closer to the bedding, and far more scent-sensitive than we are. A product that smells “fresh” to us may be overwhelming to them. A cleaner that leaves residue on the floor may end up on their paws. A lotion or perfume we apply to ourselves may be inhaled or licked by the dog curled up beside us.
This is why I look at the whole home, not just the dog’s food bowl.
Why I Use Young Living Supplements and Nutritional Products
I use Young Living nutritional products because I want options that support daily wellness without adding more junk into the routine.
Nutrition is always the foundation. I will never pretend a supplement replaces real food, fresh food, hydration, movement, sleep, nervous system support, or good lifestyle habits. But targeted nutritional support can absolutely have a place.
Young Living offers nutritional products that support areas like energy, minerals, antioxidants, digestion, immune function, hydration, and daily nutrient intake. I like having those tools available for myself and my home because wellness is not just something I talk about for dogs. I live it too.
And when pet parents are exhausted, inflamed, overwhelmed, stressed, not sleeping well, skipping meals, drinking too much coffee, and running on fumes, that matters. Your dog’s wellness plan does not exist separately from the person caring for them. A healthier household starts with the humans too.
No, I am not saying you need a cabinet full of supplements. More is not automatically better. But I do like having quality nutritional products available when they make sense.
Beauty and Personal Care Matter More Than People Think
This is an area that gets overlooked all the time.
People will worry about whether an essential oil is safe to diffuse for ten minutes, but then spray synthetic fragrance, use heavily scented lotion, burn candles, wear perfume, apply chemical-heavy hair products, and clean the house with products that smell like a hotel lobby exploded.
That does not make sense.
Our personal care products follow us everywhere. They are on our skin, in our hair, on our clothes, on our bedding, and in the air around us. Our dogs are exposed to them because they live close to us.
That is why I care about what I put on my body.
Young Living’s beauty and personal care products give me options that feel cleaner, more intentional, and more aligned with the way I want to live. I want products that work, but I also want products that do not make me feel like I need to open three windows after using them.
Skincare, deodorant, oral care, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, makeup, and household products all matter. Not because we need to obsess over every ingredient, but because repeated exposure adds up.
Household Products Are a Big Deal in Dog Homes
If I had to pick one area where pet parents could make a meaningful shift, it would be household products.
Think about what your dog is exposed to every day:
Floor cleaners
Laundry detergent
Dryer sheets
Fabric sprays
Candles
Plug-ins
Room sprays
Carpet powders
Disinfectants
Bathroom cleaners
Kitchen sprays
Deodorizers
Now think about where your dog spends most of their time: the floor, the couch, the bed, the crate, the rug, the car, the laundry pile they absolutely were not invited into but claimed anyway.
This is where product choices matter.
I would rather use household products that are effective without bringing in a heavy synthetic fragrance cloud. I want clean surfaces, not chemical warfare. I want my home to feel fresh without overwhelming the animals living in it.
Young Living gives me options for cleaning, laundry, and home care that fit better with the kind of environment I want to create.
This Is Not About Being Perfect
I want to be very clear: this is not about perfection.
It is not about guilt.
It is not about shaming someone because they have a bottle of grocery store cleaner under the sink or a favorite mascara that is not “clean enough” according to the internet police.
We all start somewhere.
For me, this has been a gradual process. I replaced things as I ran out. I chose the products that mattered most first. I paid attention to what I used daily, what my dogs were exposed to often, and what made the biggest difference in the overall feel of my home.
That is how I recommend pet parents approach it too.
Start with the products your dog is exposed to most often. Start with the air, the floors, the laundry, the bedding, and the products you put on your own body if your dog sleeps with you, cuddles with you, or licks you like you are a salt block.
Small changes add-up.
Why I Prefer Buying Through a Trusted Source
One of the reasons I continue to choose Young Living is because I am not just grabbing random products from a shelf and hoping for the best.
I know where to get education. I know how to ask questions. I know how to look at the products within the context of a dog-friendly home. And I can help my clients do the same.
If you order through me, you are not just getting access to products. You are getting support, education, and guidance from someone who understands dogs, essential oils, natural wellness, and the reality of living with animals in the home.
Young Living has a large education community, I can also connect you with other educators and mentors who specialize in areas outside of my expertise, including human wellness, supplements, beauty care, emotional wellness, and household swaps.
My primary focus will always be dogs, but I love that there are resources for the whole family. I have turned to these educators many times for my own personal health and members of my family and friends.
My Bottom Line
I use Young Living because I want trusted quality products in my home. I want essential oils, supplements, personal care, beauty care, cleaning products, and household items that align with how I live and what I teach.
This is not about joining a business. This is not about throwing everything away and starting over — though I did that with my cleaning products!
It is about choosing better, one product at a time.
For me, Young Living has become part of a bigger wellness lifestyle — one that supports my home, my body, my dogs, and the pet parents I work with.
Because wellness is not just what we feed our dogs. It is the air they breathe, the surfaces they walk on, the products we use around them, and the daily choices that shape the environment they live in.
And that is why I use more than just the oils.
