Myrtle Beach Area Dog Care Guide
A practical starting point for finding emergency care, veterinarians, acupuncture, rehabilitation, groomers, trainers, boarding and pet sitters across North Myrtle Beach, Little River, Longs, Loris, Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Conway, Aynor, Socastee, Surfside Beach, Garden City and Murrells Inlet, with selected nearby Brunswick County resources.
Businesses are presented to help pet parents begin their own research. Inclusion does not mean Dana Brigman or The Well Oiled K9 recommends, approves, guarantees or has personally evaluated a provider. National retail chains, nationally branded veterinary hospitals and national pet-service franchises are intentionally excluded. Local-name veterinary practices are still labeled when they are affiliated with a larger corporate group. Ownership can change, so verify directly if that distinction matters to you. A business not listed has not been rejected or judged negatively. Services, staff, policies, prices, hours and availability can change. Information reviewed August 20, 2026.
Emergency and Business-Hours Urgent Veterinary Care
"Urgent care" does not necessarily mean a 24-hour emergency hospital. Call before leaving to confirm hours, capacity and whether the practice can safely handle your dog's condition. If a dog is having trouble breathing, collapsing, seizing repeatedly, bleeding heavily, showing signs of bloat or experiencing another life-threatening emergency, do not wait for an online reply.

Veterinarians Across Horry County
This is a starting list, not a ranking or endorsement. Ownership labels reflect current public practice statements, corporate career listings and professional profiles. "Corporate-affiliated" describes business ownership or partnership - not the quality, motives or skill of the individual veterinarians and staff. Holistic Dog Wellness and Behavior Support in the Myrtle Beach Area
In researching veterinary care across Horry County and the surrounding area, I found several practices offering individual complementary services such as acupuncture, laser therapy and rehabilitation. What remains difficult to find locally is a truly integrative veterinary practice that routinely brings conventional diagnostics together with fresh-food nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, essential oils, behavior and day-to-day home support. That is a real gap for pet parents who want a broader plan, but it does not mean veterinary care should be skipped or replaced.
A holistic veterinarian may be hard to find. Your dog still needs a care team.
Your veterinarian is the right professional for examinations, diagnostics, medical treatment, prescriptions, procedures and emergencies. However, a veterinary appointment may not provide enough time to work through food, supplements, daily routines, environmental exposures, stress, behavior and every complementary option a pet parent wants to consider.
When one professional cannot reasonably cover every piece, the answer is not to abandon veterinary medicine. It is to build a better team around your dog.
The Well Oiled K9 - Dana Brigman
North Myrtle Beach - Serving Horry County, the Grand Strand and nearby Brunswick County
I am a canine nutritionist, holistic pet health coach and canine behavior consultant. I help dog parents turn scattered recommendations into a practical home plan that may include fresh-food nutrition, recipe review, supplements, digestive and immune support, essential oils, herbs, homeopathy, mushrooms, lower-tox living, senior support, recovery routines and symptom tracking.
I do not diagnose disease, prescribe medication or replace veterinary care. I work alongside your veterinarian by helping you understand what happens between appointments, organize the questions that still need answers and build a realistic plan around your dog's needs, your household and your budget.
Behavior does not live in a separate box.
Anxiety, reactivity, aggression, handling problems, sudden behavior changes and a dog who can no longer settle may require training, but they can also be influenced by pain, inflammation, digestion, nutrition, medications, hormones, sleep, aging or chronic stress.
My behavior consulting helps determine what may be a training issue, what deserves a wider wellness look and when both belong in the plan. I can work alongside a trainer teaching skills, a groomer noticing skin or handling changes, a sitter observing appetite or anxiety, and the veterinarian responsible for medical evaluation and treatment. The goal is not to make every professional do the same job. It is to stop treating the dog as a collection of unrelated appointments.

Part Two: What the Business Listing Does Not Tell You

Why Did Dana Show Up in Your Search?
If you searched for a veterinarian, groomer, trainer, rehabilitation provider or sitter in the Myrtle Beach area, you came here for local information. I'm Dana Brigman, a North Myrtle Beach canine nutritionist and holistic pet health coach. I am not a veterinarian, groomer or pet-care directory company, and I do not replace medical diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, procedures or emergency care.
I created this guide because finding a name and phone number is only the first step. Horry County pet parents may call several practices before finding availability, travel across the county for urgent care or build a team from several different types of providers. Part One helps you identify options. Part Two will help you evaluate what the listing does not tell you.
