Lemongrass for Dogs: Nature’s Bug Shield with Benefits

Most people know Lemongrass as a natural insect repellent. And yes—it is fantastic at repelling fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes when used correctly.

But it also does so much more.

I’ve used Lemongrass personally with my dog Poppy—for ligament support during her recovery and as part of my outdoor seasonal sprays. It’s one of the most versatile oils in my kit.

Here’s what Lemongrass offers:

  • Insect repellent - think fleas, ticks and mosquitos (main focus!)

  • Joint and ligament support

  • Detox + lymphatic drainage

  • Digestive boost

  • Emotional clearing + mood uplifting

I especially love Lemongrass when the seasons change—it’s a key part of my spring + summer detox and parasite protocols.

 Herb vs. Oil:
Lemongrass the herb is commonly used in teas for digestion and mild fevers. The essential oil, however, is highly concentrated and offers topical, aromatic, and energetic support—making it a cornerstone for dogs with joint issues, immune sluggishness, or bug sensitivities.
