Ozone is one of the natural wellness tools I find fascinating because there are several very different ways it can be used with animals.
Some are wonderfully simple: ozonated oils, ear products, oral gel, skin products and ozonated water.
Others are actual veterinary ozone procedures that involve specialized equipment, oxygen, controlled ozone concentrations and professional instruction.
Those two categories should not be treated as though they are the same level of DIY.
Ozone can be an excellent tool. I want you using the right form of it for the right reason — not buying advanced equipment because “ozone is good for everything.”
Ozonated oil and medical ozone therapy are related — but they are not the same thing.
Ozone is O₃, a highly reactive form of oxygen. In veterinary ozone therapy, precisely generated ozone may be used in several ways under controlled conditions.
Ozone can also be reacted with oils or liquids.
When ozone is stabilized in an oil, the result is a much easier product to store and use topically than freshly generated ozone gas.
Ozonated Oils
Ozone is reacted with an oil such as olive or sunflower oil, creating a stable topical product that can be kept on hand for skin and other appropriate uses.
Ozonated Water
Ozone can be bubbled into water for fresh short-term use in appropriate cleaning, bathing or veterinary applications.
Medical Ozone
A generator creates ozone from oxygen at a controlled concentration for specific veterinary procedures. This is the category that requires much more training and supervision.
What can a dog parent reasonably buy — and what belongs with professional guidance?
These are the O3Vets products I think most dog parents will actually be shopping for:
- ozonated olive oil;
- ozonated sunflower oil;
- ozone ear drops;
- pet skincare cream;
- ozone oral gel;
- ozone pet shampoo; and
- PetOzone Shower.
These are very different from learning an invasive or systemic ozone procedure.
O3Vets also sells:

- cupping equipment;
- limb-bag systems;
- catheters;
- syringes; and
- professional veterinary accessories.
O3Vets currently states that pet guardians using ozone therapy at home should do so under the supervision of a veterinarian.
You do not have to own an ozone generator to use an ozone product.
This is where O3Vets becomes much more approachable. They now offer several ready-to-use ozonated products.
Ozonated Olive Oil
O3Vets currently sells a medium-strength organic ozonated olive-oil product blended with beeswax.
Dana's Take: This is probably one of the easiest ways for a dog parent to experience why I like ozonated products.
It can be kept on hand as a topical option rather than requiring you to generate fresh ozone every time you want to support an appropriate skin or tissue issue.
Ozonated Sunflower Seed Oil
O3Vets also offers ozonated sunflower oil as another stabilized ozone-oil option.
Dana's Take: I like having more than one carrier-oil option available because different formulations can have different texture, absorption and practical uses.
Ozone Ear Drops
The current O3Vets ear drops contain organic extra-virgin olive oil infused with ozone.
Dana's Take: This is an appealing simple product for dog parents who want an ozonated-oil option specifically formulated for the ear.
But recurring ear problems still make me ask about yeast, allergies, food intolerance, moisture, anatomy and what keeps causing the ear environment to become unhealthy.
Pet Skincare Cream
O3Vets' current Pet Skincare Cream contains ozone-infused sunflower seed oil at 10% of the formulation and is designed specifically for pet skin.
Dana's Take: I like topical options for minor skin-support situations because we don't need to turn every skin issue into another oral supplement.
Chronic or recurring skin problems still deserve investigation of the underlying dog.
Ozone Oral Gel
O3Vets' current Oral Gel uses ozone-infused sunflower seed oil in a mucoadhesive gel designed to remain in contact with oral tissues.
Dana's Take: I like having another natural oral-care tool available.
Dental disease still cannot be solved with a gel when the dog has advanced periodontal disease, broken teeth, infection or another condition requiring veterinary dental care.
Ozone Pet Shampoo
O3Vets includes an ozone pet shampoo in its current ozone-oil product collection.
Dana's Take: This can be a useful option when I want skin and coat care that fits into a low-tox grooming approach.
As always, a shampoo does not answer why the dog is chronically greasy, itchy, yeasty or developing repeated skin problems.
PetOzone Shower
One current O3Vets device that is specifically marketed for pet guardians as well as groomers and veterinarians is the PetOzone Shower.
Instead of asking you to generate and administer medical ozone, the unit creates low-concentration ozonated water on demand for bathing and cleaning animals.
O3Vets currently lists its output at approximately 0.5–1 μg/mL.
Skin & coat
Provides an ozonated-water bathing option without requiring a full veterinary ozone system.
No ozone storage
Ozonated water is generated when you need it rather than expecting unstable dissolved ozone to sit on a shelf indefinitely.
More practical DIY
To me, this is a much more reasonable home-device conversation than jumping immediately from “I like ozone” to purchasing a clinical ozone generator.
“Should I use ozone?” is too broad a question.
What are we trying to support?
A superficial skin problem? A recurring ear issue? Oral health? Wound care? Recovery? Chronic disease? A dog undergoing veterinary treatment?
Those are very different conversations.

If you're a dog parent looking at these because you want to perform advanced ozone therapy at home, I would start with the veterinarian conversation before the generator purchase.
Do not breathe ozone gas.
This is one point I want to make extremely clear.
Ozone gas is a respiratory irritant and should not be directly inhaled.
O3Vets itself states that breathing ozone gas is prohibited.
Advanced ozone therapy requires the correct:
- equipment;
- oxygen source;
- ozone concentration;
- administration method;
- ozone destruction or containment where applicable;
- clean technique;
- training; and
- veterinary supervision.
I would not use social-media protocols as your training manual for a medical ozone generator.
Start with the simplest tool that solves the problem.
Skin problem?
An ozonated oil or pet skin product may be the only ozone product you need while you investigate why the skin keeps becoming irritated.
Ear support?
Ozone Ear Drops give you a ready-made product without trying to create your own ozonated oil.
Oral care?
Ozone Oral Gel may be a useful part of routine oral support while appropriate dental disease is addressed.
Bathing / skin support?
The pet shampoo or PetOzone Shower may be a more practical investment than clinical ozone equipment.
More advanced is not automatically more effective for the problem you actually have.
Don't lose the dog while researching the therapy.
You may need a $30 product—not a $6,000 machine.
Natural-wellness research has a funny way of escalating.
You start looking for something for your dog's skin and three hours later you're researching medical oxygen tanks and ozone generators.
Sometimes the advanced equipment really is appropriate.
Sometimes an ozonated oil was the useful part of the whole rabbit hole.
