What I like about NHV
NHV formulates natural pet supplements specifically for animals rather than simply taking a human herbal bottle and telling dog parents to divide the serving size.

NHV develops dog and cat products around specific body systems and common health concerns rather than leaving pet parents to adapt human herbal blends themselves.

NHV has a very large catalog, including many condition-specific bundles. These are the individual products most relevant to the health concerns dog parents commonly bring to me.
Kidney, Urinary & Liver Support
Tripsy™
NHV focus: Kidney and urinary-tract support.
Dana's Take: Tripsy is one of the better-known NHV products and one I may consider when the kidneys or urinary tract need support.
But kidney disease is a nutritional and medical condition too. I want labs, hydration, phosphorus, protein quality, blood pressure, medications, appetite and calorie intake in the conversation.

NHV focus: Herbal support for normal liver function.
Dana's Take: Milk thistle is one of the herbs I use frequently when liver support makes sense, especially when medications, illness or abnormal liver values are part of the picture.
I still want to understand why the liver needs help. Supporting the liver and investigating the reason for abnormal values are two different jobs.

NHV focus: NHV markets BK Detox primarily for immune support and describes it as supporting normal elimination through the blood, liver and organs.
Dana's Take: I would not use the word “detox” as permission to throw this into every dog's bowl twice a year.
Hydration, bowel function, food, medications, liver and kidney health all determine what type of support makes sense.
Gut & Digestive Support
TumFlora
NHV focus: Intestinal flora and gastrointestinal support, particularly in dogs dealing with inflammatory bowel concerns.
Dana's Take: Gut-support products can be helpful, but IBD, reflux, repeated diarrhea and chronic digestive problems rarely make me think, “just buy one more gut supplement.”
Food, fat, fiber, microbiome, medications, pancreatic function and food tolerance may all belong in the investigation.

NHV focus: Herbal support for diarrhea and gastrointestinal upset.
Dana's Take: I like having an herbal tool for occasional digestive upset.
Persistent diarrhea, dehydration, bloody stool, significant pain or a dog who is becoming systemically ill is no longer a supplement-shopping situation.
Inulin-PK
NHV focus: Herbal support marketed around intestinal parasites and the gastrointestinal tract.
Dana's Take: Parasite support is an area where I want to know whether we are talking about prevention, a suspected exposure or a confirmed parasite.
A dog with a significant worm burden may need diagnostic testing and appropriate veterinary treatment rather than assuming every herbal parasite formula is sufficient.
Allergies, Immune Support & Skin
Stimmune
NHV focus: Immune balance, histamine response and support for dogs with allergy-related symptoms.
Dana's Take: This is much more interesting to me than simply suppressing an itch, but I still don't want to stop here.
Chronic allergies can involve food intolerance, gut health, yeast, environmental triggers, medications and an immune system that needs regulation rather than endless stimulation.

NHV focus: Multi-mushroom immune support.
Dana's Take: I like mushrooms, but this is another category where overlap happens quickly.
If your dog already gets Turkey Tail, a seven-mushroom blend and another immune formula, we should ask whether adding another mushroom product improves the plan or simply enlarges it.
All Clear Ointment
NHV focus: Topical skin support for minor irritation and problem skin.
Dana's Take: I like having topical natural tools available.
But recurring hot spots, repeated infections and chronically itchy skin make me investigate the dog underneath the skin problem too.
Cancer & Whole-Dog Immune Support
ES Clear™
NHV focus: NHV markets ES Clear as a herbal formula for cancer-support protocols.
Dana's Take: This may be one tool I consider in an integrative cancer plan.
I do not treat an herbal cancer product like chemotherapy in a bottle. The dog's diagnosis, surgery, oncology plan, food, organ function, medications, mushrooms, omega-3s, pain, muscle and quality of life all matter.

NHV focus: Herbal support for inflammation, joints and inclusion in some cancer-support plans.
Dana's Take: Turmeric can be useful, but I don't automatically add it because the dog has cancer or arthritis.
Medications, bleeding risk, digestion and the rest of the anti-inflammatory strategy deserve consideration.
Joints, Mobility & Senior Dogs
Old Timer
NHV focus: Arthritis, muscle and joint discomfort.
Dana's Take: Despite the cute name, Old Timer is primarily an NHV joint-support formula, not a canine cognitive dysfunction formula.
For a senior slowing down, I still want to distinguish arthritis from IVDD, hip problems, CCL injury, neurologic weakness and muscle loss.

NHV focus: Herbal support for discomfort and inflammation.
Dana's Take: Pain changes behavior, sleep, movement, appetite and quality of life.
Natural support may be part of the plan, but a dog in meaningful pain deserves an adequate comfort strategy rather than requiring herbs to do a job they cannot fully do.
Heart & Respiratory Support
Hearty-Heart
NHV focus: Herbal cardiovascular support.
Dana's Take: I may use natural support alongside veterinary cardiac care.
Heart disease is not where I substitute supplements for diagnostics, echocardiograms, blood pressure or prescribed medications when those are necessary.
Resp-Aid™
NHV focus: Herbal support for cough and respiratory comfort.
Dana's Take: Coughing can come from airway irritation, infection, collapsed trachea, cardiac disease and other very different problems.
I want to know why the dog is coughing before treating cough suppression as the entire strategy.
Adrenal & Thyroid Support
Supraglan™
NHV focus: NHV markets Supraglan for adrenal support, including products and kits associated with Cushing's and Addison's disease.
Dana's Take: This is exactly where a product page can become dangerous if we oversimplify.
Addison's and Cushing's are very different endocrine diseases. They require appropriate diagnostics and may require essential prescription medication.
Herbal adrenal support may complement that plan. It should not replace understanding which disease the dog actually has.
Thyro-Up
NHV focus: Thyro-Up is NHV's product for dogs with an underactive thyroid / hypothyroidism.
Dana's Take: Hypothyroidism needs actual thyroid testing.
Weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, behavior changes and skin problems can have many causes.
Resthyro
NHV focus: Resthyro is NHV's formula for overactive thyroid / hyperthyroidism.
Dana's Take: This is not a general “thyroid-balancing” product and it is not the same thing as Thyro-Up.
Thyroid direction matters.
Anxiety, Stress & Behavior
Matricalm
NHV focus: Herbal support for nervousness, agitation, anxiety and behavior-related stress.
Dana's Take: I like natural calming support.
But anxiety may be affected by pain, gut health, hormones, sleep, environment, learned behavior and the dog's nervous-system history.
A calming herb can help the dog feel better without necessarily telling us why the dog is struggling.

Multi Essentials
NHV focus: Plant-based multivitamin and general nutritional support.
Dana's Take: This can be a useful broad product, but I do not automatically use a multivitamin as the “balancer” for a homemade diet.
Homemade food still needs appropriate calcium, phosphorus, iodine, trace minerals, fatty acids, calories and other nutrients in the correct amounts.

NHV sells a large number of bundles built around health conditions: kidney support kits, cancer kits, Cushing's kits, allergy kits, respiratory kits, urinary kits and many more.
Bundles can be convenient.
They can sometimes cost less than buying the included products separately.
And sometimes I genuinely like the combination.
But I do not assume that because a dog has kidney disease, she needs every supplement in the Kidney Failure Super Support Kit.
I do not assume that because a dog has cancer, she needs every product in the Cancer Fighter Pack.
And I do not assume that a bigger protocol is a better protocol.
One product may be enough
If one formula addresses the part of the picture I care about, we may not need the whole bundle.
You may already own half the kit
If your dog already takes mushrooms, milk thistle or an immune formula, buying duplicates may make little sense.
Medication changes the equation
A product combination that looks sensible on a shopping page may need more thought when prescription medications are involved.
Food may be the missing product
Sometimes the money earmarked for supplement number four would be better spent improving the dog's daily nutrition.
Before you buy the giant kit because the diagnosis matches the title, this is a very good time for a supplement review.
If food is contributing to the problem, I want to fix the bowl too.
NHV has products for allergies, IBD, kidney disease, liver health, inflammation, endocrine disease and senior dogs.
All of those problems can also have nutritional considerations.
That doesn't mean food cures every disease.
It means food is something the dog receives every single day, often twice a day, for years.
I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars layering natural products on top of a bowl that is keeping the dog inflamed, nutritionally depleted, overweight or digestively unstable.
Sometimes we change the food first.
Sometimes the food and herbs change together.
Sometimes the current food is appropriate and the herb fills an important support role.
That's the decision I care about.
Read about the problem too — not only the product.
The label gives us a starting point. It still doesn't know your dog.
NHV provides serving directions for its individual products, often based on the pet's weight.
That's useful.
But if your dog is sensitive, medically complicated or already taking several products, I may choose to introduce the formula more gradually.
Introduce intentionally
Starting five formulas on the same morning makes it very difficult to identify which one helped or caused a problem.
Watch the dog
Appetite, stool, energy, itching, sleep, thirst, urination and behavior can all give us useful information.
Review the label
Product formulas and manufacturer directions can change. Check the current label rather than relying forever on an old screenshot.
Reassess
A product that made sense six months ago does not automatically deserve a permanent place in the dog's bowl.
NHV formulas contain active herbs.
I especially want the entire supplement and medication list when a dog is:
- receiving chemotherapy or other cancer treatment;
- taking steroids or immunosuppressive medication;
- taking thyroid or adrenal medication;
- taking heart medication or diuretics;
- taking blood-thinning or clotting-related medication;
- taking seizure medication;
- taking insulin or other endocrine medications;
- preparing for surgery;
- pregnant or nursing; or
- dealing with significant liver or kidney disease.
I also don't accept a blanket statement that every natural product is automatically compatible with every prescription drug.
The dog's diagnosis, ingredients, medication metabolism and treatment goals matter.
Sometimes the best savings is not buying the whole kit.
NHV sells directly to pet parents and frequently offers bundles, kits and promotions.
If a bundle contains products you genuinely need, it may be a good value.
If it contains two things you already own and another formula I would not have chosen, the “discount” may cost you more.
Depending on current products, promotions and how we are sourcing things, I may be able to help you identify the more economical option.
But the biggest financial benefit of a supplement review is often stopping the random accumulation of products.

Which NHV product is used for kidney support?
Tripsy is NHV's primary individual product for kidney and urinary support. NHV also sells several kidney and renal-support kits that combine Tripsy with other products. I do not automatically recommend every product in a kit simply because the dog has kidney disease.
Which NHV product is used for liver support?
NHV Milk Thistle is one of the company's primary liver-support products. Liver support should also consider the cause of abnormal liver values, medications, diet, diagnostics and other supplements already being used.
Which NHV products are used for allergies?
Stimmune is marketed for immune and allergy support, and NHV also offers other allergy products and kits. Chronic allergies may still involve food intolerance, gut health, yeast, environmental triggers and medication history, so I do not approach allergies as a single-product problem.
Does NHV have products for canine cancer?
Yes. ES Clear is one of NHV's primary cancer-support formulas, and the company sells several cancer-support kits. These products should be viewed as supportive supplements rather than replacements for cancer diagnosis, surgery, oncology care, nutrition or other appropriate treatment.
Is NHV Old Timer for canine cognitive dysfunction?
NHV currently markets Old Timer primarily for arthritis, muscle and joint discomfort. Senior dogs with confusion, pacing, sleep changes or other cognitive symptoms need a broader assessment rather than assuming a joint supplement addresses canine cognitive dysfunction.
What is the difference between NHV Thyro-Up and Resthyro?
NHV positions Thyro-Up for hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid, while Resthyro is positioned for hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid. They are not interchangeable general thyroid supplements.
Does NHV provide dosing instructions?
Yes. NHV products generally include manufacturer serving guidance, often based on body weight. I may still help refine introduction, timing or how a product fits with the dog's other supplements and medications.
Should I buy an NHV condition kit?
Maybe. Kits can be convenient and may offer savings when the included products actually fit the dog. I do not assume that every dog with a particular diagnosis needs every product NHV includes in the matching bundle.
Can Dana review all the NHV products my dog already takes?
Yes. A supplement review can look at the purpose of each product, ingredient and goal overlap, manufacturer serving guidance, timing, medications, food and whether each formula still deserves a place in the plan.
NHV has a product for almost everything. Your dog probably doesn't need all of them.
That is actually why I like the brand — it gives us a lot of useful herbal tools.
But a dog with kidney disease may also have arthritis. A cancer dog may also have a sensitive gut. An allergic dog may be taking Apoquel. A senior dog may have heart disease and be losing muscle.
Once the dog gets complicated, shopping by individual diagnosis stops being enough.
That's where we decide what belongs together — and what doesn't.
