How a Holistic Pet Health Coach Can Support Your Dog’s Wellness
Yes! Natural Wellness, Nutrition, and Whole-Dog Support with Dana Brigman
I am ready to help.
If you are searching for a pet health coach because your dog is struggling, you are probably already overwhelmed. Maybe your dog has allergies, digestive issues, anxiety, mobility problems, seizures, chronic inflammation, senior dog changes, or a new diagnosis that has left you wondering what to do next.
You may have already tried prescription food, supplements, Facebook advice, random remedies, and five different opinions from people who all sound very confident. Bless it. That gets exhausting fast.
I’m Dana Brigman, a certified Holistic Pet Health Coach and Canine Nutritionist specializing in dogs. Through The Well Oiled K9, I help dog parents build practical, natural wellness plans using fresh food, raw feeding guidance, targeted supplements, essential oils, herbs, homeopathy, functional wellness concepts, and whole-dog lifestyle support.
I work with pet parents locally in North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Little River, Brunswick County, Wilmington, and surrounding areas, and I also offer virtual pet health coaching by Zoom.
What Is a Pet Health Coach?
A pet health coach is a wellness guide who helps pet parents make better day-to-day decisions about their dog’s nutrition, supplements, lifestyle, natural remedies, and long-term wellness support.
A pet health coach does not replace your veterinarian, diagnose disease, prescribe medication, or handle emergencies. Instead, I help you look at the bigger picture, understand your options, ask better questions, and create a realistic plan that supports your dog alongside appropriate veterinary care.
Veterinarians are essential for diagnosis, lab work, imaging, surgery, prescriptions, emergencies, and medical treatment. My role is different. I help you sort through the food, lifestyle, supplement, and natural wellness pieces that often get very little time in a traditional appointment.
Holistic Pet Health Coaching for Recovery, Prevention, and Longevity
My work is not just about choosing better food or adding natural remedies. The bigger goal is to help your dog recover more fully, build resilience, reduce unnecessary stress on the body, and age with more comfort and vitality.
Many pet parents reach out after a diagnosis, injury, surgery, flare-up, medication side effect, digestive crash, allergy spiral, cancer diagnosis, senior decline, or a long season of “something just isn’t right.” Others come before the crisis because they want to be proactive instead of waiting for disease to make the first move.
That is where holistic pet health coaching can be so valuable.
I help you look at the full picture: food, inflammation, gut health, immune stress, toxin exposure, emotional stress, movement, supplements, natural remedies, and day-to-day lifestyle. The goal is to support your dog’s body so it has more of what it needs to repair, regulate, detox, rebuild, and thrive.
This is longevity-focused dog wellness. Not gimmicks. Not miracle claims. Not throwing sixteen supplements at your dog and hoping one sticks.
It is a thoughtful, practical plan designed to help your dog eat better, feel better, recover better, and live longer.
When Should You Work With a Holistic Pet Health Coach?
Pet health coaching may be a good fit if you want help with:
• Recovery support after illness, injury, surgery, medications, vaccines, trauma, stress, or a major health event
• Prevention-minded wellness before small issues become bigger problems
• Longevity planning for adult and senior dogs
• Fresh food, raw feeding, gently cooked meals, or hybrid feeding
• Allergies, itching, yeast, hot spots, or chronic skin issues
• Digestive issues, reflux, gastritis, colitis, loose stool, or gut imbalance
• Anxiety, reactivity, restlessness, sleep issues, or behavior changes with a physical component
• Senior dog mobility, cognitive changes, inflammation, comfort, and vitality
• Immune support, detox pathways, liver support, kidney support, and seasonal wellness
• Cancer support, chronic illness support, and quality-of-life planning alongside veterinary care
You do not have to wait until your dog is in crisis. In fact, some of the best work happens before the wheels fall off the wagon. We look for patterns early, support the body deeply, and make better choices before chronic stress turns into bigger health challenges.
What I Help You Do
As your Holistic Pet Health Coach, I help you:
• Review your dog’s current diet, supplements, lifestyle, symptoms, and health history
• Identify patterns that may be contributing to chronic issues
• Build a fresh food, raw, gently cooked, or hybrid feeding plan
• Understand supplement options without throwing the whole kitchen cabinet at your dog
• Explore natural support tools such as herbs, essential oils, homeopathy, mushrooms, probiotics, minerals, and targeted nutrients
• Support gut health, immune balance, detox pathways, mobility, emotional wellness, and long-term vitality
• Prepare better questions for your veterinarian
• Create a step-by-step plan instead of guessing from social media comments
This is not one-size-fits-all wellness. Your dog’s age, breed, health history, symptoms, medications, diet, environment, stress level, and your real-life budget all matter.
Pet Health Coach vs. Canine Nutritionist vs. Veterinarian
A veterinarian diagnoses disease, orders testing, treats medical conditions, prescribes medications, performs procedures, and manages acute or emergency care.
A canine nutritionist focuses on food, nutrients, feeding style, diet balance, supplements, and meal planning.
A holistic pet health coach looks at the whole dog: food, symptoms, lifestyle, stress, environment, gut health, behavior patterns, natural wellness options, owner goals, and long-term support.
I bring these pieces together so you are not stuck trying to connect the dots by yourself from a stack of lab results, Facebook threads, and product labels.
Why Work With Dana Brigman?
I specialize in dogs and natural wellness. My background includes canine nutrition, raw feeding, animal aromatherapy, homeopathy education, herbal education, functional wellness concepts, Reiki, Healing Touch, Raindrop Therapy, and years of hands-on experience helping dogs and their people work through complicated wellness concerns.
I was certified as a Holistic Pet Health Coach through Dr. Ruth Roberts’ program and continue to study nutrition, natural remedies, integrative wellness, and whole-dog support.
My approach is practical, direct, and personalized. I am not here to hand you a pile of random supplements and wish you luck. I help you understand what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how to adjust when your dog gives us feedback.
Common Areas of Support
Fresh Food and Raw Feeding Guidance
Many dogs benefit from moving away from heavily processed food and toward fresh, raw, gently cooked, or hybrid feeding. I help you understand protein, fat, calcium, minerals, organs, fiber, food rotation, budget options, and how to make food changes safely.
Gut Health and Allergies
Skin issues, itching, yeast, food reactions, loose stool, reflux, and chronic inflammation often have gut health pieces worth exploring. We look at diet, microbiome support, food triggers, immune balance, environmental load, and natural support options.
Senior Dog Wellness
Senior dogs often need more thoughtful support, not less. We may look at protein quality, mobility, inflammation, cognitive support, digestion, minerals, hydration, comfort care, and ways to help your older dog feel better day to day.
Anxiety, Stress, and Behavior Support
Behavior is not always “just training.” Pain, gut imbalance, inflammation, hormones, stress, nutrition, and environmental overload can all affect how a dog feels and behaves. I bring my background in dog behavior and holistic wellness together so we can look at the whole dog.
Natural Remedies and Lifestyle Support
Depending on your dog’s needs, we may discuss essential oils, herbs, homeopathy, mushrooms, minerals, probiotics, CBD, detox support, PEMF, cold laser, bodywork, or other natural wellness tools.
What a Pet Health Coach Does Not Do
To be clear, I do not diagnose disease, replace your veterinarian, prescribe medication, perform medical procedures, or tell you to ignore veterinary care.
If your dog needs urgent care, lab work, imaging, medication, surgery, or a diagnosis, that belongs with your veterinarian. My role is to help you build the wellness, nutrition, and lifestyle support around that care.
The best results often happen when pet parents use both: appropriate veterinary care and thoughtful holistic support.
Local and Virtual Pet Health Coaching
In-home coaching visits may be available in North Myrtle Beach, SC and surrounding areas. Virtual pet health coaching is available by Zoom for pet parents anywhere.
And yes, Zoom works very well for this. I can learn a lot by reviewing your intake form, your dog’s history, current diet, supplements, symptoms, photos, videos, and your goals. We can sort through a surprising amount without everyone loading into the car like a circus act.
