Vaccines Lower Immune System
Effects of Vaccines On Your Dog’s Immune System
Vaccines can temporarily suppress the immune system in dogs, for 10-14 days after administration. While this is a normal response to vaccination, it may be a factor in the origination of vaccine disorders or autoimmune disorders.
The immune system is stimulated by the vaccine, which can cause it to temporarily slow down or become less responsive to other stimuli. This is known as "immune suppression" or "vaccine-induced immunosuppression." This effect is generally short-lived and typically lasts for a few days to a couple of weeks. It is not harmful to the dog and is part of the normal process of building immunity. It is not recommended to vaccinate a dog that is already immunocompromised, as it may cause more harm than good.
Vaccine reactions be seen within a couple of weeks or several months post-vaccination.
This is why it is very important to ensure your dog has a healthy immune system BEFORE and AFTER vaccinations. See: Vaccine Preparation and Aftercare Protocol
