All Life Stages Dog Food

The Truth About “All Life Stages” Dog Food

Marketing at its finest. And I fell for it years ago.

3 dogs, puppy, adult, old

Think about it—my 16-year-old small senior is not in the same life stage as a 5-year-old athlete. And never will be. So why would I feed them both the exact same food and expect it to meet their vastly different needs?

Dog food labeled "All Life Stages" is formulated to meet the minimum standards for puppies, adults, and seniors—but that doesn’t mean it’s optimal for any of them. It’s a one-size-fits-all approach, which, let’s be honest, rarely works well in real life.

And here’s the bigger issue:
Even if I rotate brands or switch protein sources, if I’m still feeding kibble, I’m still feeding:
✔ Highly processed, biologically inappropriate food
✔ Synthetic vitamins & minerals attempting to replace what’s lost in processing
✔ A meal designed for survival, not thriving

What’s the Better Option?

Instead of relying on mass-produced, “balanced” dry food, I focus on:
Whole food nutrition – real, fresh ingredients
Varied proteins – because no single protein provides everything
Seasonal fruits & veggies – giving their body what it naturally craves
Non-synthetic supplementation – supporting their health without artificial additives
Tailored nutrients – because a senior dog’s needs aren’t the same as a working dog’s

This is why I customize each bowl to my dogs’ individual needs—because their age, activity level, and health all play a role in what they should be eating.

Feeling Nervous About Changing Your Dog’s Diet?

I get it. We’ve been taught to trust the pet food industry’s claims, and shifting away from kibble can feel overwhelming. But you don’t have to figure it out alone—I’ll help you navigate better nutrition choices for your dog.

Your dog deserves more than a lifetime of ultra-processed food. Let’s build a better bowl, together.
