Herring's Law of Cure

Hering's Law of Cure is a principle in homeopathy that describes the order in which healing occurs in a person undergoing homeopathic treatment. It is named after Dr. Constantine Hering, who was a prominent homeopath in the 19th century.

According to Hering's Law of Cure, healing occurs in the following sequence:

  1. Healing takes place from the inside out, from the most important organs to the less important ones.

  2. Healing occurs in reverse order of the appearance of symptoms. This means that the most recent symptoms that have appeared will be the first to disappear, while the older, deeper symptoms will take longer to resolve.

  3. Symptoms may move from more vital organs to less vital organs, or from the upper body to the lower body, as healing progresses.

  4. As healing occurs, symptoms may reappear temporarily, but each time they do, they will be less severe and of shorter duration.

Hering's Law of Cure is used as a guide by homeopathic practitioners to monitor the progress of their patients and to adjust the homeopathic remedies they prescribe. It is important to note, however, that this law is not universally accepted by all homeopaths and is the subject of ongoing debate and discussion within the homeopathic community.

Put another way — healing occurs from the inside out and in the reverse order in which the symptoms presented.

Homeopathy aims to cure by treating the patient's totality of symptoms, which are mediated through the patient's vital force. Herring's Law of Cure is considered important to the philosophy of homeopathy and possibly other complementary therapies such as naturopathy and acupuncture.

Dr. Herring was a medical doctor who discovered that every time a medical condition is suppressed with surgery or strong drugs, the body has a general tendency to slide into a deeper state of imbalance and more serious disease.

Dr. Herring also Dr. Herring observed that whenever a medical ailment is suppressed through surgical procedures or strong prescription medications, the body tends to move towards a more severe state of imbalance and worsen the disease, rather than heal it.
